(Source: Statista) Ecommerce has transformed how businesses market themselves and sell their products and services. A new ecommerce trend is live-streaming and real-time-selling.

This trend gamifies shopping, brings people together to create unique social experiences, and is minting millionaires left-and-right. Other countries are already knee-deep in this new trend. Livestream shopping is already a $63 billion industry in China and it’s now making its way to the U.S. It’s key that businesses capitalize on this trend in order to be ahead of the curve for the new year.

In this podcast episode, you’ll learn what real-time marketing is, all about the opportunities and benefits of it, why it’s important - and most importantly - you’ll learn how to create a real-time marketing strategy and how to get started.

Viewers watched a record 1.7 billion hours on Twitch in November 2020. But for a platform that is mainly known for gamers, the #1 segment was the “Just Chatting” category, totally 228 million hours watched in November 2020. The beauty products category on Twitch has grown by 260% in terms of hours watched and powerhouse beauty brands such as L’Oreal, Mac, Em, Hero, and e.l.f. are already dipping their toes in the water.
    2. The QVC phenomenon is back
Amazon Live features live-streamed video shows where hosts talk about and demonstrate products available for sale on Amazon. Below the livestream, there is a product carousel where shoppers can browse product details and make purchases. Google is also taking part in this trend. Google just took Shoploop out its internal incubator and made it a part of its actual business. It’s an interactive shopping experience where people watch videos of creators showing off their items, and then selling them through Google Shopping.
    3. Social media influencers are the new QVC hosts
TikTok recently announced its latest partnership with Walmart. Creators will show off their favorite Walmart fashion finds. Pins will pop-up on users' screens allowing them to tap to add the item to their cart.
